With this economy and a very aware and savvy electorate, the chances for an amnesty for illegal immigrants is slim to none.

By the time they might be able to offer another amnesty the flow of illegals from SOB would have already slowed dramatically. Central America will still be poor but Mexico will be utilizing them as they will have a cheap labor need within 30 years or so.

Even if amnesty where granted, does anyone really think their bosses will all of a sudden give them 20% raises with benefits. The amnestied labor pool with move on to jobs legal Americans desire because of the obvious benefits and because these businesses will push them out anyway to bring in another batch of illegal and exploitable workers.

Combine the newfound awareness Americans have with the undesired and massive cultural shifts occuring and Amnesty not happening.

I believe a nation has the right to feel this way without being considered xenophobes. There is not one country on the planet that would desire the cultural face of their land being reconstituted within a generation. Would Mexico take in 10 million Hatians, even if their country was falling into the ocean? I have a feeling that the ocean floor of the shipping lane from Haiti to Mexico would be a huge mass graveyard of Hatians and the sunken rickity boats they where in trying to make it to Mexico. The Mexican Navy would be considered heroes by their countrymen.

What a world.....

Great let their countries of origin deal with this maybe then they'll see some improvement back home instead of running away from it and causing problems for American taxpayers.

I find this thread most true than what I have read in a long time. Amnesty didn't work before and will not work again for the exact reasons the OP stated. Votes is the only motive I can see yet illegals still being a minority, Americans are tired of this nonsense and will out vote sending current leadership packing.

Illegals probably don't realize that if they were made legal the businesses won't want them anymore.

Bingo! They fail to realize dirt cheap labor is the name of the game, and that is only possible through illegal immigration. Once they become legal and entitled to a fair wage, they will no longer be the preference of greedy employers. Then what?

Let's hope that you're right. However, the ideologically driven agenda of the left wing amnesty progressive democrats will not let them stop hispandering for an amnesty anytime soon. Staying in power and acquiring more power is the primary goal of left wing amnesty progressive democratic politicians and the carrot of that up to 20 million illegal alien mostly future democratic voters bloc if amnestied is too big for the amnesty progressive democrats to ever ignore. It should help that the 6 RINO republicans and the whopping 202 left wing amnesty progressive democrats in Congress that are blocking every effort to stop illegal immigration will most certainly be thinned out in Nov.
