We will be moving around the Scott AFB area later this year. I would like some honest opinions on the area. I would like to live someplace that #1 has good schools, #2 safe neighborhoods, #3 not too far of a commute from Scott, #3 a nice place to live.

I have heard that O'Fallon is the best. Is that true? Shiloh is supposed to be good as well. We are looking to rent b/c we already own a home. If we stay in the area long then we will be looking to buy.

Schools and safety are the main things that I am interested in. I like cleaner areas. Hopefully, there are parks and things to go to as well.

I would also love any imput on a pediatrician, pulmonoligist, allergist, OB, PCM, vet. All those real fun things that you have to find when you move It could always be worse. In this economy I am happy that we have a job.

Thanks so much in advance. Please feel free to offer up anymore information about the area. We have never been there, so all information is appreciated.

Shiloh, great elementary and middle school. Small student teacher ratio. Then students move on to O'Fallon for high school. The best of both worlds. Shiloh as close to base as can be.

Thanks so much!! I think that we have narrowed it down to either O'Fallon or Shiloh. It will just depend on what the market is like at that time. Now to find some good doctors, and we should be in business.

Thumbs up moving

Hello,
O'Fallon is a beautiful place. Close to everything.
Great places to eat and shop.

Belleville, Iwould say not as good asO'Fallon, Ill.

I have relatives who live in Belleville. They say a lot of undiserable people, come in from East St. Louis.

You won't go wrong with O;Fallon.

If you ask anyone that lives in O'Fallon, they will tell you that it's the best. It's also the most expensive, and I don't think the "advantages" that O'Fallon offers come anywhere close to justifying the cost of houses there. Shiloh, Belleville, Fairview Heights, and Swansea are all fine places to live and lots of people stationed at Scott do just fine living there. Just stay at the top of the bluffs.
