And Rauner is responsible for over 25% of it in just two years. Some business man.

If you are the CEO you can walk in and start firing the idiots that caused the mess. Unfortunately as Governor all he can do is stand in their way. That alone makes him worth keeping.

You can't blame the CEO for not fixing things if he isn't empowered to take out the trash.

Illinois just needs to beg the Feds for $$$ just like all the Red States do to survive.

IL Federal Aid as a percentage of the State's revenue is only 26%.

Whereas the Red States receive as much as 40% of their State's revenue in Federal Aid. Nice scam they got going! Cry about "Socialism" but they receive more Welfare than any of the Blue States.

https://taxfoundation.org/states-rely-most-federal-aid/

Quote:
The top recipient of federal aid in FY 2014 was Mississippi, which relied on federal assistance for 40.9 percent of its revenue. Other states heavily reliant on federal assistance include Louisiana (40.1 percent), Tennessee (39.9 percent), Montana (39.1 percent), and Kentucky (38.5 percent). As we have previously noted, these states, and others that rely heavily on federal assistance, tend to have modest tax collections and a relatively large low-income population.

You can bet that the voters are already blaming Rauner (already spending on re election), he knows he painted himself himself into a corner (public opinion) and now he wants to negotiate. Standing in the way added 30 billion in debt. Only a fool would be happy about that.

The lack of intelligence of Illinois voters, particularly in Cook Co, is exactly the root of most of our govt woes. Any other place and the people would be chasing these crooks out of the state with torches and pitchforks.

How did Rauner cause all that pension debt? Also, Rauner just said "You're not raising taxes this time!" and supposedly now he's the bad guy?

No, he didn't cause it. He just, in his own words "cause Illinois a little pain" and by playing dictator added another 30 billion of debt. Now he wants to negotiate. And yes he wants a tax increase. This GREAT business nman couldn't see that 2 years ago, what vision!
