I am throwing a 100th birthday for my dear, sweet Grandma at her nursing home in Rockford. She is the most wonderfuly, sweet, never a cross word, always giving and very hospitable Granma anyone coudl ever have - she is so amazing! I want to honor her servan'ts heart and her 100 years of loving everyone she knows with a special birthday party but I am making arrangements from Iowa, so I need some local Rockford resources if anyone can help me out.

First, my Grandma was born and raised in Rockford and lived there her entire life, marriage, kids, retirement, her entire life! Amazing, who can say they've done that all in one city? So, I want to really make her "100 years of Rockford History in One Woman" very special.

I am looking for the following and if you want to email me that is fine, too:

~How do I invite the Mayor and Governor? She does hold 100 years of Rockford history all in one woman afterall. She tells me about historical stuff the average Rockford resident doesn't know, like about how she was born under the Morgan Street Bridge when the Rock River used to be a creek!

~How do I get help from a local historian to put together a little "100 years of Grandma in Rockford", she gets a bit more tired these days so it's getting harder to share stories for very long bless her heart.

~Need to find a "Cake Boss" type cake maker who can make her a fabulously creative cake that has examples of her life on it but that is not too costly.

~A true, blue accordion player who can play polkas really well. She LOVES polka and I want to bless her with some toe-tapping stuff.

I appreciate any suggestions you may have for the dearest of ladies, my Grandmother.

Thanks

When I came in to check responses to this post there were two people who instant messaged me here but I am not able to retrieve those. Please email me at MyGrandmaRocks@hotmail.com if you have any ideas for her birthday.

Thanks
