He's the best Democrat, for sure. He appears honest and straight talking (let's hope). The GOP better run someone who can do more than just cut taxes and increase the deficits. If the GOP doesn't run someone who will actually cut spending, then Quinn is my man.

This has been my experience, over the years.

Hmm... I dunno. I've never traveled nearly a thousand years into the past to vote for the replacement of a disgraced, impeached governor. Who do you think he'd be running against? Brian Boru, King Aethelred, Henry II the Saint? That'd be an interesting race...

Yes. He's getting things done. I.e. the mini-capital bill, then the full capital bill within a few months. These were needed badly for years, but things never moved before Quinn. Not that Quinn has showed me he's some golden boy, yet. But he's satisfied me that the reason the previous government hardly ever made any progress was not because all three leaders were from the same party, but because one of them was Rod Blagojevich.

As for taxes going up, taxes are going up everywhere. I do blame the preceding state governments for spending every last dime of revenue when times were good, too good to last. But I can't hang that on Quinn. I find his honesty refreshing. The unspoken truth is that any Republican in office would also have at least a temporary tax increase on the table, when the only alternative is budget cuts so severe teachers will be laid off, prisoners will be released, etc. Gov. Quinn has been forthright about the facts of the budget crisis and the unpopular solutions, instead of blowing a lot of partisan hot air.

Absolutely not. He may be honest, but he doesn't have the slightest bit of leadership ability. He caved on getting rid of free rides for seniors, he caved on Roland Burris, he caved on the U of I scandal.
