Hooterville is ok. Stay away from Watseka. Cops are terrible with b.s. moving citations.

Sounds ridiculous, or Urban Legends. There are some small towns with fundamentalist preachers or kooks in the police department who have wild fantasies that the local "Beavis and Butthead type" high school boys with AC/DC and Metallica T-shirts are actually a satanic cult who eat babies on friday nights. This of course is all Urban Legend just like Bigfoot and UFO's.

The other explanation - without based on ANY fact - may be very simple. It may have a Coven. It is not uncommon in Europe, and there was an active Coven in Chicago. Those who do not understand, and don't want to understand freak out and want to burn witches at the stake like they did in New Salem in Colonial times. There is a big difference between the religious white witch Coven and Devil worshipers.

I personally would not get over anxious about it until I knew a lot more.

I surprised that I didn't pick up on this long before now.

I spent 4 years in Rankin and tend to keep up with the area....

New Salem is in Illinois and had no witches. Witches were hanged in Salem Massachusetts, hanged not burned.

lol yeah ask any school child in Illinios...we always had to go to New Salem, Springfield and Indian Mounds for our class trips.

So there were many little devils running around those parts but no witches.
