Based upon convenience to gyms, shopping, restaurants and overall quality of life, which town or towns would be the most desirable to live in out of: Madison, Hanover, North Vernon, Scottsburg, Austin, Vevay, and Columbus?

Probably depends on what you are looking for. Columbus has bike trails, several gyms, Target, Cummins, is much larger than the others on the list, and is a short drive to Indianapolis. Columbus does not fit in with the others on the list.

What about all of those cities excluding Columbus?

Excluding Columbus, then either Madison or Hanover. They're basically right next to each other, so I would count them as one option with Hanover being the smaller, quieter of the two. Madison has several beautiful historic homes and beautiful views along the river. Also some good outdoor options with Clifty Falls right there and a greater variety of local restaurants and shops.

The other towns are smaller with fewer options of things to do and fewer options for either big box or local stores. Scottsburg, Austin, and North Vernon have a larger drug/crime problem. Are you going to be working somewhere specific?

Bearing in mind, Hanover is a college town
