As you have probably already gathered from my name I am someone who is from Indiana, but is now living in Kentucky. I have been to Southern Indiana, the part that is close to Louisville recently and was wondering how Kentuckians treat those in the Hoosier state? I want to hear from Hoosiers what your experiences are. Louisville and Kentucky in general boasts, "Southern Hospitality," but I must say now that I live in Ky, I have not really experienced that here. I have also read forums from those living in Ky about Indiana and they were anything but nice! I would like to hear from those in Southern Indiana, what your opinions are. How do you feel you have been treated or mistreated? Thanks in advice for responding!

Me experience has been that the feeling is mutual. The Indiana-Kentucky thing is no different that any other regional rivalry, Michigan-Ohio, Missouri-Illinois, Missouri-Kansas, Texas-Oklahoma, Wisconsin-Minnesota, etc.

The ironic thing is that the parts of Southern Indiana that are close to Louisville and the Ohio River are actually a lot like Kentucky, not that different. So the Ohio is somewhat arbitrary as a dividing line.

I agree. Southern Indiana is kind of like an extension of Kentucky. I never experienced any type of ill will from any Kentuckians while I was living in the area.

I've never experienced what you're describing either. In fact, I've found that people in the south tend to respond quite positively to a smile and polite hello than some other places, Indiana included.
