Hello everybody!

From time to time I'm reading on CD forum if members of this or that community are present in the area of potential relocation? After much delibiration among our family we are really getting close to the moment when we will be calling Indy our home. We live in Northern NJ now. Is there a Russian-speaking community/cultural things in Indy or its burbs? I did extensive Google search, saw one school, and a few separate business looks like ran by people with Russian sounding names? Of course here in NY/NJ area there are a lot of us...exiles from former USSR. And before NJ we lived in Brookly, NY LOL . Anyway, hope you are out there and we'll hear from you soon. And to the rest of you....we love everyone , just wanted to know if anyone from our common culture is in the Greated Indy area?

Thanks in advance.

Billy.

Depends on what side of town. Downtown Indianapolis is the place where everyone goes to hangout and shop/socialize/go to the bar outside of Broad Ripple etc.
I do know Indianapolis has a massive presence of people from the former YugoSlavia. 10,000+ refugees to be exact.

Thank You BRG.

Not that it's imperative for our move (may be) still deciding. But would be good to know.

It's a good question, I'm also looking at a possible relocation to the Indy area but I won't know any details for a few weeks probably.

Well do you have any criteria for a neighborhood?
Like walking distance to shops/crime etc.

There is a scattered Slavic population there. Not sure if you are an eastern orthodox or Jewish. We might be moving there and there are places to meet other Slavs. Not sure about language, but you might try meetup.

I have to make one detinction here, b/c in the old Soviet Union being Jewish did not mean "the one who practices Judoism". There was very specific "graph # 5" in my Soviet passport which states "Nationality". In my case it said "Jew". Hope I did not overly complicated it, but it implies different thing here vs in the old Country..

Default Russian Jews

Yes there are quite a few Russians, and many of them are Jews. PM me if you would like to speak with one.

I also came from North Jersey and love it here...
