I am a prospective IUPUI Law School student in the fall 2014 and am looking for recommendations for apartments within walking distance to the campus.

Also, how is the public transportation system in Indianapolis with regards to routes to/from IUPUI to other major spots. Are there any shopping malls/grocery stores near the IUPUI campus?

IUPUI is actually right downtown and near a huge complex of hospitals. So you and all the students will be competing with the regular workers, etc. Public transportation is IndyGo bus system and you can get info on their website. Timeconsuming but doable to get anywhere but you can find most of what you need downtown.

Maybe a current student can point you to some available units. There are a lot being built right between downtown and the campus now but I dont know when they will be finished or the $$ rent.

From downtown to get anywhere via IndyGo I think is adequate because you don't need to go downtown to a transfer point. There is a new Marsh grocery store being built along the canal close to IUPUI that will put grocery shopping very close to campus. Otherwise, just about everything in downtown Indy is within easy walking distance of campus. As for apartment recommendations, there are several apartments along the canal downtown across West Street from campus. A lot of students live in those apartments but they aren't cheap. I think many students that live there have roommates. There are lofts in various buildings downtown that would be a bit more of a walk but still easily doable. There are probably other apartments that someone else can point you toward.

If you live most anywhere Downtown, getting to campus on IndyGo will be a breeze. They have the Red Line which goes from various Downtown stops to IUPUI every 15 minutes, 6 days a week.

Downtown is also home to Circle Centre Mall and (soon to be) two Marsh Grocery Stores.
