I agree with the others about IPS schools I have a 4 yr old and I will move before sending him to IPS. I moved here from Southern California in 2002. I did not know anything about townships. ( had no clue what a township was) It can be overwhelming It took me 4 years to get used to it. But I really do like living here. Anyway, I just scanned the other info givin and do agree on Irvington area. I live in Little Flower neighborhood.Little Flower Church and school. It is really close to Irvington. Irvington is a historic area that is up and comming higher price tag. I love all my neighboors!!!!! but as you leave the neighboorhood it is real getto. Same thing with Irvington. Downtown is really close... shopping is a little out of the way for the better stores. You really need to have someone that knows the area to help you before you buy. Trust me !!!! Anything north of 56th is safer and better than south of that then you get into downtown. You have Greenwood which is a more I hope no one gets offended but this how it is. Slight lower class people but they are ok.They have lots of shopping. North side is great but price is high then you have Carmel,Westfield and Fisher lot of tax issues with the 3 areas Carmel is the Snobs and Preps. Noblesville is a bad idea if you need to work East, south, west or Downtown. Traffic is complety bottlenecked on highway and sideroads at rush hour. Good word is Gridlock. So I hope this helps i gtg .

I have been going through some homes in Fountain Square that are in the $40s and are decent. Irvington has lots of homes that are pretty nice in your price range. You can find a house close enough, and if you don't mind a home that needs some love, you will be just fine! If you are open to town homes or condos, there are certainly some options for you.
