StatCounter, which tracks Internet data, said that IE's share of the browser market fell to 49.9% in September. More people still use IE than any other single browser, but the combined market share of non-Microsoft browsers now outpaces IE.
Quote:
That, along with the fact that other browsers have outpaced IE's innovations, has led Mozilla's Firefox, Google's (GOOG, Fortune 500) Chrome and Apple's (AAPL, Fortune 500) Safari browser to eat away at Microsoft's market share. Internet Explorer's use has been falling steadily over the past several years.

Internet Explorer usage falls below 50% - Oct. 6, 2010

Just more proof that Microsoft is on the decline...

I've used Mozilla Firefox since nearly the day it came out. If I had to rely on IE, I would have just given up on the Internet.

I use Firefox as well. The cross OS support on Windows, Mac and Ubuntu. Plus the add-ons are what do it for me..

Firefox + Adblock + Noscript + Delicious + Developer

Firefox. Before that, Opera, before that (for a few days), IE, before that, Mozilla. NEVER have used Outlook or Outlook Express.

x2.

I went from IE to Firefox in [aprox] 2005 .... then from FF to Chrome in 2009ish, and haven't looked back. FF got way too bulky. Chrome always works great.

I do, however, use both IE and Chrome at work. I have a program that runs on IE only, so i'm kind of stuck there.

The only thing about Chrome is that Google is harvesting your internet usage...

Google
That's the very reason I'll never choose Chrome. One has to be careful with Google.

I use Safari and am well pleased. Used to have Opera as a back up browser but it seems to not be progressing with the times. In its day, it was lean, quick and sleek.

OK, so Google is harvesting, no biggie.... doesn't really make a difference which browser you use as far as privacy goes... if you think about browsing habits (harvesting) why not say:

- won't use Safari because Apple is harvesting?
- won't use IE because Microsoft is harvesting?
- won't use Opera because Opera is harvesting?

Have used FF since day 1 and have really liked it, add whatever extensions you want and you have a great browser... is Mozilla harvesting? who knows, who cares. I'd be more concerned over tracking cookies then the developer of the browser.

The BEST and LAST GOOD version of IE in my opinion is 6

It looks the nicest,is the most customizable and gives you the best privacy! (Which has been compromised in newer IE versions)
