Can anyone help with Windows 8? (laptop, bios, Flash, online)

I have windows 8 on a Samsung laptop and am getting popups saying that an update would accelerate my performance. The only update showing is a BIOS update that continually fails when I try to update with the error code -502. I have called support, but they could not help me. I did a search online and it suggested security programs might interfere but after uninstalling what I had, it still won't update.
Anyone have a suggestion?

Sounds like you are becoming another victim of a malware attack. Stop trying to install that! Get Malwarebytes free version and scan your system.

There are fake updates out there, like one of them is for Flash.
