I scored ten. Of course the laptop is on if I'm up, but it doesn't mean I'm doing anything online. I may have been sitting there for six hours, but writing which isn't online. Or more likely editing something. I don't have a bedtime and it doesn't stop me from going somewhere since I don't have a car and keep my ride borrowing down to needs. And I really don't count time spent shopping online since its a bit of a drive to where more than Walmart is.
I do love message boards and will spend a lot of time on them, but don't do facebook or twitter or the social media stuff. I used to chat with a friend on yahoo, but it was private and she was in a different state. The other night, just having posted a story, I kept goung back to fanfiction a bunch of times since I was getting a LOT of hits on the story.
I don't do sites that show your name no matter HOW much they say they guard your privacy. That's what Sony thought.
On the other hand, I can't imagine NOT having the net. I can live where I live and get all the things I need dropped on my porch thanks to it. I can price shop without having a car to drive around and check. I can keep in touch with people all over with email, since while phone numbers may change, email usually doesn't. I don't have to buy magazines which have to be dealt with when your finished since I can find most of it on my screen. I can watch a bunch of stuff on my computer and soon my tv, even do a binge watch of hours and hours. It makes it possible to live where all these things aren't and still have access to them.
And of course I can post my stories to be read without having to put out a zine and print them, though I still print out the best. (If people would just leave comments, I'd be so glad, sigh...)
The other night there were four people in China reading my story. Wow, now that's awesome.
My machine decided it was time to go to computer heaven and I discovered that there is life after death.
I survived without serious withdrawal even for 3 or 4 days.
People are just bizarre, I would rethar find out what they are thinking from the net then having to deal with em directly !
LOL! I scored a 26, possibly addicted...I know, right? People are just so open on the Internet. You get to hear the whole life story of a stranger, and it's not weird at all because we aren't looking at each other's faces. Wouldn't it be great, although strange, if people were this open and carefree in real life? I think I would have a much easier time socially.
