When you are testing this use ethernet and be sure no other devices are using any bandwidth. Ideally disconnect the router from the modem and connect one computer to the modem with ethernet.
yep I did all of that and I don't have a router closed out all of my programs that might be using bandwith such as Skype im cloud storage programs
It should be better at this hour. Try midweek at this hour and see what you get.
I tried it this morning and I got 246 megs down and 22 megs up. funny when I called tech support they told me not to complain that i'm lucky when I was getting 187 megs down and 22 megs up well hell i'm paying for 300 187 is a little bs for what i'm paying. I will either go back to 100 megs down or either leave time warner all together. and now there attitude is UPTO 300 megs!! I had better service when I had the 100 meg plan than with this one
well i signed up for it because i have 3 gamers in my home and i was paying for 100 megs before wich was costing me more than the new 300 meg package!! they just said that they did upgrade my area also. I did replace all of my cables in my home and the either net cables as well. My modem is an arris dg1670a wich from amazon looks like it's a problematic modem to begin with!! I do downloading like 20 and 40 gig games but that's it that's where the speed would come in..

And mike is right motorola is now arris. I am wondering if it's taking a while for the modem to provision itself through the system
going with a local company in my area and dumping TWC!! since I will be getting faster speeds and there's NO sharing of bandwith from house to house. 10 megs all day is really not acceptable for an upto 300 meg plan
Twice a day?!?! That's borderline obsessive, my friend.
I telecommute, so I have a play computer on (this one), so it has multiple screens open and no matter what, popups are the norm no matter what is loaded. So this computer gets it done at least twice a day. My work related computers, get it at least once a day. At the EOD, haven't has a virus or malware issue in more than a decade. As to the other devices around the house, none of them have had a issue either. Also each computer gets a full deep scan once a week.

It's not sharing form house to house, its traffic on the line that connects you to the master server. No one has a direct connection to the master server.
