Someone just used your password to try to sign in to your account. Google blocked them, but you should check what happened. [Check Activity button]

The only Google account I have is on youtube which isn't connected to a gmail account. I don't use any gmail accounts.

I'm assuming this was some sort of phishing email but wanted other opinions.

If you don't have a gmail account how did you get the email? Wouldn't that notice only be sent to a gmail account? The "activity button" may be a virus downloader. In any case I wouldn't click on it, I would just mark it as spam and delete the email .

A Youtube account IS a Google account which includes Gmail. If you went to Gmail.com it would allow you to login with your YouTube account. It's not active until yo do but it's available if you want it. So yea... ignore this. Someone phishing for your password.

Maybe phishing, maybe not. Change the password. It's good idea anyway. You should not share passwords between accounts. It may (will) backfire. I like to use a "base" password which includes what I can easily remember. A combination of upper, lower case, special characters and numbers, then at the end I add some initials or characters that identify the site. For example add "gMa" to your base password for your gmail account. This way it's much easier to remember a unique pw for each site. You could do that or use a password manager such as lastpass or roboform.
