That's how it is here. All businesses are on FB so they don't have to host their own website.
Kinda like renting so they don't have there own building, tools, office furniture, etc.

I knew I didn't want it from the get-go. Now, when it's old hat, our condo HOA wants to create a FB page for updates so they don't have to email everyone (big whoop, it's group email). Sigh.
They may think it has the advantage that if they want to pretend they didn't says something, they can delete it. (Not really true, but they might think it.)

Family knows we're not on it, so they are forced to email which I think is good for them, or they might forget how, lol.
Also a massive data harvesting operation. One would have to be a fool to use it.
Even though I agree 100%, at the end of the day, most everything that happens on the Internet involves around data transmitting. So, at this point, I no longer see it as something evil or alerting.
It is not much different than a person using Google Chrome yet they are concerned about their privacy. Lost cause.
Also, I no longer call any names to people for using site x because we all have someone close to us that uses site x. If they are enjoying it, so be it. I reckon people who are into Dr. Phil, Celebrity News and gossiping, are likely to enjoy FB too.
I used it for about a year back in 2007-2008 to connect with long lost friends and school buddies. Even back then, didn't take me long to realize what it was and eventually deleted my data then account. Good thing, it could be done back then!
Facebook = recipes, craft ideas, local news blurbs, alerts for activities that might interest me, current menus for the local mom and pop restaurants. And a bunch of garbage that doesn't really interest me, but easy enough t ignore it. It's a tool, I choose how I use it (and it contains none of my personal info, never has)
