Hi All,

Pls help me. I am a newbie without much tech knowledge. I subscribed to Vonage world calling and will be getting my adapter in fnext few days.

I don’t understand technically but please see my requirements below and suggest best VOIP compatible Vonage phone.

1. Ability to use cordless in home
2. Use wireless internet if possible (not must)
3. It should be speaker phone so that i can take office calls long while working from home without holding the device
4. Calls recording capability if possible (not necessary)
5. expandable to two handsets for two rooms and living room
6. good reliable brand (analogy like Google is for search / etc)

I intend to purchase preferably online.

Pls suggest your best opinion and advice

Regards
Sunando

What kind of wireless network do you have? If it's the original wi-fi, you'll want to avoid getting any 2.4 GHz cordless phone. If you get any other kind of cordless phone or if you have any other kind of wireless network, there shouldn't be a conflict.

VoIP is not particularly exotic anymore. If yours is working well with corded phones, it should also work well with cordless phones. Cordless phones are no more likely than corded phones to be the source of any issues you have with VoIP.

I have a Uniden cordless phone system that's a few years old and expandable to 8 handsets. Each handset has speakerphone capability built in. I like it just fine and it seems to work seamlessly with my VoIP provider Ooma. You can probably find a new equivalent to that model.

You should have asked here before signing up with vonage, there are better options for cheaper money, vonage is the AOL of the VOIP industry.

Vonage has nothing to do with wireless internet, nor do your phones. Any cordless phone set should work, basically your vonage box plugs into your internet connection and one of your phone jacks, this makes the rest of the phone jacks in the house live, and you plug in any phone set you want to use, the phone doesn't know the difference between and standard land line or VOIP. If you want wireless internet for a laptop you need a wireless router, which it seems you already have.

I have vonage for a home office line and it works fine with a cordless phone. I have to agree with NHDave about the customer service. It is awful. However, I have tried at least two other VOIP providers and couldn't get their adapters to work with my routers. The vonage adapters always have just worked for me. That is worth something.
