Mark Zuckerberg Isn't CEO Enough for Facebook's IPO
After two days on the road, Facebook leader Mark Zuckerberg has not impressed investors with his business savvy, when that's just what he should be doing.
After a hectic Monday in New York, when Zuckerberg kept his audience waiting because he got caught in the bathroom, the Facebook crew decided to switch things up a bit, hoping to smooth out the process.
Way back when Jobs and Woz were still wearing hippie clothes they decided to go hire a "real" CEO who did help the company for a while with the marketing experience he had hyping sugar-water. Of course he eventually left in disgrace when over hyped and way too early promotion of the Newton hurt the credibility of Apple.
More recently the Google Boys (Sergy Brin and Larry Page) hired Eric Schimdt to help them grow as a "real" technology firm. Despite Mr. Schimdt's experience as former head of Sun that didn't do much to help them defend Android against Oracle's claims of Java infringement. This could be a huge shift...
Facebook of course needs a real CEO. Zuckerberg is a well known jerk and unlike Bill Gates he does not have a real genius (like Paul Allen) or a real "tough guy" type executive (Steve Balmer) to rely on.
Facebook is a lot like Yahoo or MySpace or AOL -- lots of "promise" and woefully little "delivery". Very few firms that pay to advertise on Facebook have the metrics to compare who they reach through that "channel" vs others. WHEN they do they'll likely realize the "bang for the buck" just is not there.
What is the stock valuation or AOL or Yahoo today?
Let's not forget that the interwebs have enabled people with ABSOLUTELY no product, no real revenues and only a very pie-in-the-sky 'business plan' to literally become BILLIONAIRES --- Broadcast.com - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
He made a multi-billion dollar company out of a few lines of code...and he's not business man enough?
Huh?
A great leader recognizes his weaknesses and steps aside for the good of the company. Z is a great innovator, but just doesn't seem to have the professional business interactions with others and ability to pursuade. Selling and charisma are two completely different gifts than the gift of tech.
I'd rather invest in a company where the CEO is blunt and doesn't change his/her mannerisms in order to "suck up" to others. That doesn't mean I will invest in FB though, I will need to see the price action when it goes public.

I agree. He likes who he is and that makes him a stand up person. I can't believe this is news. They need to find something better to do than complain about trivia things.
He wrote some code and got real lucky . Lots of other college kids were doing the same thing.
Not CEO material well maybe cause he is what 28? . How much business experience does he have.?
In today's world decades of experience means lack of innovation or vision.
