Interesting article on the shake-up at Fidelity.

Fidelity May Abandon Its Star Stock-Picker System After Harassment Claims

https://www.wsj.com/articles/fidelit...tem-1519641000

Quote:
Fidelity Investments, the mutual-fund giant synonymous with the star stock picker, is now considering abandoning the investment process that made its managers famous, according to people familiar with the situation.

The changes under consideration at privately held Fidelity are the result of an outside consultant’s review since late last year of behavior within the stock-picking unit, and follow reports by The Wall Street Journal of claims of sexual harassment and other misconduct there.

If enacted, the changes would mark a major overhaul of Fidelity’s lucrative stock-picking business, which executives have been loath to disrupt. They could mark the end of an era that created such star stock pickers as Peter Lynch and William Danoff, who helped the firm’s assets under management swell to $2.4 trillion and make the Johnson family that founded Fidelity billionaires.

most of fidelity's funds are run by teams for years . .

but i think if thety take the ability away from great managers like dannoff all bets are off as to how these funds will do .

if they become average performers than there is no reason to use their managed funds and that will certainly hurt their bottom line . i doubt they will make a silly move like that but you never know . business's have made stupider decisions . no one needs closet index funds .

This is a reason men may eventually never want a business relationship one on one with a woman. No travel, no lunches and never being alone in a situation.

VP Pence was correct about never having lunch with a lone female without his wife.

I could see how claims could rise in this type of environment. You lose money, you need to caress a female. You win money, you need to caress a female.

Alright, I didn't explain anything.

Anyway, what are they replacing it with? Algos?

Automation kills yet again more jobs. No problem there, huh?

i think all these constant claims by women true or not are going to set women back in the work place .

business's will shy away from hiring women if they can hire a man just out of fear of being accused if they don't promote her if she is not the better choice .

i can see this setting women back a decade or more in the strides they made

Or they could just, you know, not assualt them.

My wife was a victim at a previous job in a storage closet. She needed the money from that job she couldn't risk losing it by saying anything. Her friend was assualted in an elevator at a conference they were staying at by a drunk college. It's rampant throughout all levels of a corporation.

I'm thinking the opposite - more women bosses, less sexual harassment risk. There is a direct correlation.
