I have some extra money and would like to take a risk. I would like to gamble with 20k and hold for about 5 years. Apple is probably a safe bet, anyone have any other suggestions?

Amazon (AMZN)

They have so much room to grow in other markets and industries and the ability and money to make it happen

None. No company is immune to potentially having serious problems over a 5 year period. Put it somewhere and monitor it. The stocks already mentioned are all good, but you still have to monitor them.

Taking a risk with a 5 year time frame. RPC Inc (RES). Though you would have to live with the fairly good possibility that sooner or later, it would be bought out.

I would never buy just one stock with this money and least of all Amazon, not that they haven't had a tremendous run, but I wouldn't buy it here. But for the purposes of your question..... Humm…. One stock, 5 years ---- give me Cisco.

Since this is extra money you want to gamble with I would pick Ford (F). The stock is low right now and it is paying dividends at over 6%.
