FAIRFIELD, Iowa (KCRG/KYOU) - Two teenagers are facing first-degree murder charges after investigators said they killed a Fairfield teacher.

Officials located the remains of Nohema Graber, 66, at Chautauqua Park in Fairfield on Wednesday. Graber, a Spanish teacher at Fairfield High School, was reported missing earlier in the day.

Willard Noble Chaiden Miller, 16, and Jeremy Everett Goodale, 16, have been charged Her body was located in the park Wednesday afternoon concealed under a tarp, wheelbarrow, and railroad ties. An investigation at the scene indicated Graber had “suffered inflicted trauma to the head”, according to criminal complaints filed in Jefferson County Thursday afternoon.

Court documents reveal that officials received a tip during their investigation that included information about a social media exchange indicating Goodale had knowledge of Graber’s disappearance and death. The exchange also included information about plans to kill the Fairfield high school teacher, including a motive and efforts to conceal the murder. Social media exchanges also indicated Miller was involved and present at the time of Graber’s death.

They are charged with first-degree murder and first-degree conspiracy to commit murder. They are being charged as adults.

I guess not everyone is "enlightened" in this town by the great Maharishi.

Teenagers with this level of hate and lack of the understanding of compassion are not redeemable. I hope they throw the book at them.

That will not happen. The most they can get are life sentences with possibility of parole. But looking at their mug shots, they do look like psychopaths. It's lucky they were caught young, or there would have probably been a lot more victims. Hopefully they don't get another chance for a long time.

Not that it's right, but those two will get passed around in jail by the bigger, stronger brothas.

It was in Fairfield Iowa that, in 1997, two teenage boys broke into a cat sanctuary and clubbed 16 cats to death. I've never forgotten that. And now this.

Something is very, very, wrong with that community. And it isn't Vedic City.

Why is it always "the community" that is held in contempt? These psychopaths were simply being themselves and no negative influence from the community was present, the truth is that they were not part of the community at all, but moreover, an integral part of that larger American populace of disconnected and alienated youth.

The district representative representing Fairfield has made a name for himself but has quieted down since his absolutely outrageous comments and joking about covid, etc, getting into a ridiculous argument with one of Iowa’s top infectious disease doctors at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. It was so pathetic. The article below doesn’t even touch on the rhetoric he sprouted. It was crazy. Unbelievable that he keeps getting elected. Rep Jeff Shipley, a former sauerkraut salesman and comedian.

It's two completely unrelated incidents that happened 24 years apart.

Shipley's a bit of a flake, but I'll take him over the unimaginative inside-the-box partisan rubber-stamper that he replaced any day of the week. He at least understands that there's more to his district than Fairfield.
