Cedar Falls is a typical small Midwestern "city." There's new housing development going on... so it's growing. I haven't heard of any gangs there. It's a college town, (University of Northern Iowa).

Default Great city

My family has been in Waterloo/Cedar Falls for a couple years. It's a great place. It's home to anyone, but especially a midwesterner. Really, no worries on crime and "junk" in your life. It may seem like a small area (about 160,000 in a 3 county metro), but the quality of life will more than make up for it. Besides, Des Moines is only 2 hours south and Minneapolis is a bit over 3 north. You'll enjoy it.

Default Cedar Falls and Waterloo

well this might be a little bit negative, but well, you asked and im not going to lie to u. well i guess our family has been up here for about a couple years now and uhhhh hmm what can i say? i think if you're coming up with a family they'll get bored quickly. and waterloo is actually somewhat notorious for crime. not so much cedar falls, but same town basically rite? i wouldnt recommend it if you wouldnt have to. our family is not happy here considering 3/4ths of it is dumpy anyway. its just a depressed area.
