Greeting to all!

Am a newbie here........

Well, we r actually in the process of moving to Ridgeland for may be 2-3 yrs. We are from India & my hubby is been put up on a project there. He is roughly planning to rent an aptm in Arbor. Me & my 8 yr daughter will join him soon...I'll appreciate if someone helps me out on the following things please :

1) How's this Arbor area? Do v hv any indians living there? Any parks, play area nearby?

2) Any good elementary schools nearby? As i mentiond abv, v hv 8yr old daughter who will require admission in Grade 4 when v cm there. Is this the right age for Gr 4 as per US educational std?

3) How's culture in Ridgeland & overall MS? I mean, acceptability towards forigners. My worry is more towards my daughter as it will be totally a new place & schoolmates for her. Will she be able to gel with them or will they accept her as one of them? Any bulling happen?

4) How's the crime rate? Police support?

As of now, i hv all these concerns in my mind. I'll really be greatfull if someone write back to help.

Thanks a lot
Trupsraj

Yes, this is a safe area with good schools, police, parks, etc. Schooldigger.com provides great information on schools in the area, with Ridgeland, Madison, and Flowood schools showing both good scores and diverse populations.

It's a very large, older apartment complex. The units are larger than the newer complexes have. The grounds are fairly well-kept, but there are a number of residents with dogs, so I don't know if that would be a problem. There are also many children there. I have seen quite a few residents who are Asian or Middle Eastern.

The complex has a pool and grounds that surround a small lake. Just outside the complex you have access to the city's walking/biking trail, the Natchez Trace, and the Ross Barnett Reservoir, all of which have a variety of outdoor recreational offerings. There are numerous businesses nearby, including a Kroger grocery store and several restaurants--fast food and casual dining, mostly. It is a safe area, where the Ridgeland Police Department keeps a close watch on any undesirable activity.

An 8-year-old could be 3rd or 4th grade. You may want to contact the school district there. They could give you more information. Madison County Schools

Here is a link to the complex's website: http://arborsatnatcheztrace.com/
