I am a nursing student going with my class to visit the Mississippi State Board of Nursing in a few weeks. I need to stay in a motel for one day and night. I am trying to find something cheap, safe( Very important) and close by the board. I narrowed it down to the two below. Both are five or so minutes away from the board but my issue is are they in a relative safe area. Thanks

Motel 6 #4585
6145 I-55 N.
I-55 AT COUNTY LINE RD, EXIT #103
Jackson MS 39213

La Quinta Inn
Jackson North 616 Briarwood Dr
Jackson, MS 39211

Both are on the frontage road of the interstate highway I55. Given a choice I would send you to the La Quinta over the Motel 6. Neither are in unsafe areas. However because they are cheap hotels you might find a few random people hanging out in the parking lot. But they won't bother you.

Both motels are fine and very close to Interstate 55. I would choose Motel 6 over the La Quinta because of the distance when running from your car too the room is much closer at Motel 6. They have a Fairfield on 55 that's very nice and secured premises. I've stayed there before when coming home to visit.

Run to your car omg! Is it that bad there? Okay since my class and I also have to visit Whitfield as well how about staying in Pearl? I was thinking about these two. They are both 20ish minutes a piece form Whitfield and the State board.

Super 8 Pearl/Jackson/East
111 Airport Road Court, Pearl, MS 39208

Days Inn Pearl/Jackson Airport
235 South Pearson Road, Pearl, MS 39208

Hmm the Red Roof Inn is only 3 minutes away form the board according to mapquest.

Red Roof Inn Jackson North - Ridgeland
810 Adcock Street, Ridgeland, MS 39157

Do not stay in Pearl, it is not close to your conference.

We may have exaggerated the situation with the hotels. You'll be fine at the La Quinta.

Do not stay at the Red Roof - it's a real dump.

I would suggest the Sleep Inn on Lakeland Drive in Flowood. I-55 North in Jackson would probably end up being just fine, but the truth is that Flowood is also very convenient and Very safe. Pearl actually is very safe also. But for something cheap and very safe and reasonably convenient, I would say Flowood is the way to go.

Why would you send her way out to Flowood, when her conference is up north, probably at the Hilton on County Line Rd? The La Quinta will be just fine.

Businesses along those frontage roads experience their share of car thefts and the like.

Looked at Red Roof and Laquinta. Did a Pro and Con list form the info I've gathered.

Laquinta
Pro-
6 minutes away from my destination( Mississippi State Board of Nursing)
Rooms look bigger and updated based on pics from their website.
Free breakfast
Cons- Apparently in a bad neighborhood

Red Roof
Pros-
A few dollars cheaper than Laquinta for one night.
Only 3 minutes away from my destination.
In Ridgeland which is apparently safer than Jackson.
Surrounded by restaurants in case I want a quick bite to eat.
Cons- based on photos from their website the rooms look really outdated and small.

Safety is a big thing for me however when it comes to Jackson. So for the frontage road motel(Laquinta) how unsafe are we talking? Rapes and Murders on the daily? Drug dealers hanging out in the parking lots? Thefts?
