We are looking for accommodations somewhere from Vicksburg to Jackson where we can exchange our mom. We would like a nice B and B that would possible have a cottage to rent so that we can make the most of the one night stay and visit in a common area vs a hotel. They will be traveling from N AL and we will be coming from E Texas. We've stayed at a really nice place in Natchez but really don't want to drive that far south. Any help would be greatly appreciated....BTW it would need to allow a child as young as 8 years old.

There are several great places in Vicksburg; however, I have only stayed at 2, the Baer House and Ahern's Belle of the Bends Bed and Breakfast. The two that run the Bear House is Doug and Kathy and the two that run Ahern's is Mary and Dan. Both are wonderful places to visit, I have never had a bad visit at either one and would highly recommend them to anybody.

In Jackson there is the Fairview Inn just across from Millsaps College, which looks like something the royal family would stay in. Nearby on North State Street are the Old Capitol Inn just a block up from the gorgeous and freshly renovated Old Capitol itself - and the Millsaps Buie House, an old Victorian mansion.

There's nothing between Vicksburg and Jackson with the exception of Clinton which is right on top of Jackson. I don't know of any B&B's in Clinton, but there are several in Vicksburg as has already been mentioned.
