This was sent by my HOA. Hope it is helpful.

It has come to my attention the Lennox heat pumps which have been installed in our community between Dec 05' and Nov 07' are experiencing white coil degradation. Which means your exterior condensing unit white coils may be in need of replacement.

If so to qualify call Lennox Customer Care at 1 800 953-6669. The coils in question can be verified through your model # and Serial #, which you will provide for the Lennox Customer Care Representative. In doing so you may qualify to have these coils replaced at no charge.

It is my understanding the faulty white coil can cause your unit to run hotter than normal which could contribute to higher utility cost.

================================================== =============
I have had this Lennox unit for five years now. I have had refrigerent added every three months until another non Lennox company discovered the A unit which sits on the air handler had a hunting knife inside which made several cuts in it. I had to pay to have a new unit installed as the origina seller/installer A/C company of Inverness, FL told me to "find another dealer, I'm tired of dealing with you people". Then the company out of Deltona came to see what they could do...pre installation of new A unit, they replaced a "faulty valve" filled it with coolant and left me with a $300 bill owed. Two days later, no A/C yet the unit was running. Phoned the Deltona A/C outfit ( rather well known and quite large), and they discovered the fan was bad. They told me they would replace it and I assumed it would be with a Lennox factory fan. Immediately afterward we noticed a loud noise from the unit that carried under our home and kept neighbors awake nights. They had NO idea what was causeing that noise. It grew so loud we had to sleep with a radio on to drown it out. Still they couldn't help us. We phoned another company who informed us that the fan that was replaced ( under warrantee) was a "rescue" fan and not a Lennox fan. They Deltona people had drilled new holes to install this Rescue fan, which makes all the noise in the world. To have a Lennox factory replacement fan installed now would cost us more money. Do Not Buy Lennox~!!! I wish I hadn't. The original cost of this unit was close to $6,000 cash paid on completion of the installation. The additional milage + hourly workers cost is another $2,500 to date. Today the Deltona company phoned to inform me of the recall of the white coil and to assure me I would not pay one cent as Lennox is paying in full for this. They'd better be, because I will not pay one more cent on this unit.

How much noise should a heat pump make? Loud whirling noise? Or pretty quiet?
