I went once to see the opponents when it was the Birmingham Barons and Michael Jordan was playing for them. Other than that I just go to watch the game. In fact were going 20-Aug-11 to see them play Mobile.

The trop is that bad. I am a huge baseball fan and I had tickets to a three game series. After one game , I was out of there. There is a feeling you get watching a game there that there that you just want to get the hell out of there. There was a discussion on mlb on xm today on the best and worst stadiums. The trop was 30th out of 30. Only the Oakland Coliseum ( the park I grew up watching baseball) ranked close and having been to both I would say there is no contest. At least in Oakland you are in the outdoors, you won't have a fly ball hit the rafters, and your seats actually face the field. Not to mention if you are in Tampa you have to practically drive to Oakland to get the stadium.

Since MLB isn't expanding anytime soon, the only way Jacksonville will ever get a AAA team is to poach one from another city. It's not as simple as "moving up"... somebody has to buy a team and move it to Jacksonville. While not impossible, it's also not likely unless there is a disgruntled AAA team somewhere.

I personally think the Southern League is great with the regional rivalries it promotes. While AAA would be nice, it's nothing to obsess over.

Absolutely. The Suns play affiliates of the Braves, Cubs, White Sox, Reds, Dodgers, and Rays. All popular teams with people in this area, both locals and transplants.

They change every few years. And trust me, I am a contractor for the Suns, I see fans of almost every teams affiliate that we play.

Here is a very interesting article about the AAA minor league team that I knew would have problems. Makes Suns fans look good in comparison.
