I will be working at this festival & am looking for motel reservations that are within 10-20 miles of the park...I don't camp very well.
Help? Suggestions? |

There's not much out that way.
Have you considered renting an RV for the duration and staying in the campground that way? I've been to the campground and it's very nice and safe and an RV would give you AC and a kitchen. You could also park next to some other RVers, they tend to look out for each other. I'm somewhat familiar with the local RV scene in Jax area if you need recommendation (I'm not an RVer but I know some). Just a thought . |

I've seen video of the place & it looks out of this world amazing!
Since I will be working the show, I'll mainly not be where I'm sleeping except to really sleep so I was just thinking a cheap motel in Lake City, perhaps? I'm driving up from Sarasota, gosh, I could almost sleep in my SUV for that matter!!! Except for bathing... ![]() |

.I think you'd be too hot in your SUV though, even with your windows cracked I don't know if you could sleep the night in it. Are there any other volunteers who'd share an RV with you? I'm not talking about the big RVs, they make some small ones - at least you'd have AC. Lake City might have something, but sorry, I don't know what it would be (I've only been to Lake City a few times and mainly on the outskirts). |

Google Maps lists 8 motels in Live Oak -- is that too far away from the Fest site? As for camping out in your SUV - been there done that bought the T-shirt ... I purchased the nets that go over baby carriages and they fit perfectly over the car doors so that the windows can be left as open as necessary.

White Springs has some B & Bs and is about 15 miles away.
Madison is 35 west, but a quick drive on I-10. They have some smaller motels. Welcome to Madison County, Florida! (broken link) • Days Inn I-10 & State Road 53 at Exit 258 • Madison, FL 32340 (850) 973-3330 or (800) 325-2525 • Deerwood Inn Motel & Resort I-10 & State Road 53, at Exit 258 • Madison, FL 32340 (850) 973-2504 • Holiday Inn Express I-10 & State Road 53 at Exit 258 • Madison, FL 32340 (850) 973-2020 or (800) HOLIDAY • Super 8 Motel I-10 & State Road 53 at Exit 258 • Madison, FL 32340 (850) 973-6267 EDIT- I just googled the festival and see it is at Spirit of the Suwanee- that is closer to White Springs and a little further from Madison than LiveOak proper. Looks like a great festival- if you could rent an RV and stay at the park, it would be great- perfect time of year and the performers jam in small groups all around the campground after hours. At least that is how it was when I used to go to the Springfests- if you need quiet tosleep, though, not a god idea. But I found it nice to doze off listening to the music in the campground. Now I want to go! Last edited by HIF; 08-23-2007 at 09:55 PM.. Reason: more info |
