Curious as to what your thoughts are on this joint. Been thinking of trying it out.

There's always people there and it's a nice restaurant, but I've only been a couple times and it was just "ok".. Think River City Brewing Company, but not as good. Let us know what you think.

I looked at the River City Brewing Company's menu and it doesn't appeal to me.

I hear good and bad about Benny's. Going to try it out sometime soon I think.

I don't River City either. Bar makes a good drink, but that is about it.

I've only eaten lunch at Benny's once, it was a while ago, but I recall it being pretty good. I heard dinner was expensive, so I've never really bothered. If I'm going to spend extra on a dinner, I certainly don't want it to be at The Landing.

There's also that to take into consideration.

That's odd. Riverfront, fountain front, Riverwalk front dining just few feet away from other restaurants and bars isn't appealling? They always have live music in the courtyard evenings too. And various events in the courtyard, which it overlooks. It seems to be working, as The Landing is doing relatively well now.

It's probably because I work downtown and can see it everyday. The Landing is just dirty to me. Yeah it's nice to see the river and some of the city skyline, but there are just some trashy people there that I'd prefer to not be around. Doesn't help that literally 100% of the time I have taken my wife downtown, we have been stopped multiple times and asked for money for a cab, food, booze, etc. Not my idea of a fun night out.

I always find it perplexing when I hear how a 1-5 second conversation with a bum asking for change just ruins someone's entire evening.

Very strange.

I haven't found gated restaurant yet, but when I do, I'll certainly let you know.

Look I never said that ruined my entire evening. I said the combination of that as well as the general atmosphere of the landing just isn't what we are after. Is it that difficult to understand that not everyone wants to be downtown?

I never said I wanted to find a gated restaurant, but thanks for the snide reply.

Why is it whenever someone expresses their opinion on downtown and/or springfield you feel the need to belittle them? Downtown has it's nice areas, but to me, the landing is certainly not one of them.

The last time I was out at the beaches, or town center, I don't recall having bums beg for money, let alone see any (oh sorry, I'm not allowed to have a negative opinion on bums, how 'strange' of me).
