Saw him play against Trinity Christian a couple of weeks ago, and it was like seeing a Man playing against boys. Even though TC won 42-22, Derrick Henry ran all over them, 49 times for 240 yards and scored 3 TD's. He scored 18 of Yulee's 22 points, all but a safety and 2 extra points.

Here's a clip of one of his good 35 yd. runs ... Yulee High School Football Video "Yulee, FL - Derrick Henry VS Trinity Christian " - MaxPreps

I have heard he is interested in going to either Alabama or Tennessee, with Alabama having a slight edge.

Boy, you guys aren't up on your sports.

He announced he'd be going to Bama, back in September.

And in my opinion, never to be heard from again.

He isn't fast enough, or elusive enough to play running back in the SEC. And he has a very upright running style too. So he's going to take some big hits, playing against SEC defenses. He definitiely won't be a man amongst boys, next year.

Ironically, the same thing happened with Ken Hall too. (the guy who's record Henry broke)
Hall went to Texas A&M, and was a total bust. Never even lettered.
Texas high school superstar Ken Hall flamed out at - 08.05.08 - SI Vault

I predict Henry will be moved to fullback, tight end, or even linebacker, at Alabama.

What? That doesn't make any sense.

Ran all over them? 49 carries, for 240 yards? That's only 4.9 yards per carry. And if you back out this one 35 yard run, he was 48 for 205. That's barely 4 yards per carry. Definitiely not very impressive, for a 4A high school 'stud' playing against a 3A team.

And his team got soundly spanked.

Overrated.

BTW, I've seen him play several times over the past 4 years.

Not trying to take anything away from the kid, but is he from Alabama originally? Or is this just coach recruit skills?

Nope, he's from right here.

The inside story is this....

He originally committed to Georgia, during the Summer before his Junior year.

Everyone thought he was firm with that decision, but then the Georgia coaches started asking him if he'd consider moving to fullback, tight end, etc. (in other words, they also saw that his speed and running style wasn't really cut out to succeed in the SEC)

Once he realized that Georgia wasn't too keen on him playing tailback, he started looking around at other opportunities.

Alabama doesn't really need another tailback, but Sabin saw a chance to steal a 5 star recruit from one of his biggest rivals, and get some splashy publicity at the same time. So Alabama went after him, and started telling him whatever he wanted to hear, regarding playing tailback. Bingo, he de-committed from Georgia, and signed with Bama.

Unfortunately, I think the whole thing has as much to do with Sabin being able to steal a big recruit from Georgia, and brag about landing the all time rushing King, as it does with Henry's legit chance at making it as a tailback at Alabama.

Such are the realities of big time College football, these days.
