Looking for some authentic Japanese restaurants around town, specifically ones that offer Soba noodles. They are very popular noodles in Japan and I can't seem to find any around town. Or they are only served as ingredients in dishes, not as the main meal as would traditionally be the case. Thanks for any help!

If you like to cook your own, you can find Soba noodles at Native Sun and also at Whole Foods.

For a restaurant, the one that comes to mind is Bento. It's definitely not an "authentic" japanese restaurant - it's pan asian - but they make delicious noodle dishes. Their noodle soups are awesome and they do a great job with Udon. You could always try them and see how their Sobas are.

Sekisui. Corner of University Blvd and San Jose.

Or you can easily make it yourself, ingredients can be found in Asian Supermarkets and even Publix I think.
Cold Soba:
All you need is Soba(Buckwheat) noodle, Soba soy sauce (basically light soy sauce, Kikkoman brand is popular) and sesame/seaweed. Follow the cooking instruction on the noodle package. Its' a very cheap and simple dish to make.

I've been to Sekisui before, and tried their soba soup. I've also made it before but it's just not the same. I actually have a box of soba noodles in my kitchen now. When I lived in Madison, WI there was a small family owned authentic Japanese restaurant. They didn't serve Budweiser, or Coke, or any Americanized foods. Most of the wait staff spoke broken english. They had Zaru Soba as well as many other types of noodles and great sushi. I guess I'm spoiled lol.

Great sushi in WI? Who knew
But are you looking for cold soba noodle though?

You can venture into this one and only authentic Japanese market in town and ask the nice owner there. They carry variety of Japanese goodies there.

bingo. I find Thai and *** foods to be easy to make. Chineese food is also easy but you need to buy half the grocery store to make one dish.

OT:
CD censored the shortened 'Japanese'? Much props to CD. I'm positive it was used unintentionally here of course.

Sadly, Sekisui is no longer . They closed about a month ago. It was a big restaurant and I imagine they had big expenses to match.
