Do we have to add Tornadoes to Jville's "routine weather" pattern or is today's events an aberration (or the product of global warming)??

haha no it's only during severe weather situation. I only remember one that a small tornado touched down in JAX. have to get used to the long hurricane season though, JAX does get a lot of rain through out the year. FL does not have 365 days of 'sunshine,' no matter what the road sign says. speaking of which, I don't think JAX have a tornado warning system like a air siren/horn, do we?

I think all of these things you mention are true to one extent or another, yet.......the city still grows; people still move here and love it.

Even though these might be some of the shortcomings of the city, it doesn't seem to be affecting its' growth.

Also, as the city grows, it changes.

West of Jacksonville - in the rural areas (Deep Clay county and further west) - there are tornado warnings when we have bad storms. Further inland, in Central Florida, they do get tornadoes. If you're living in one of the more dense areas of Jax (Southside, for example), it's pretty much a non-issue, though anything is possible, of course.

Regarding San Diego vs. Jacksonville, Ryan MOVE TO SAN DIEGO!!!!! I just moved from San Diego to Jacksonville about a year ago and sometimes miss SD immensely. I made tons of friends in San Diego and loved living there. Yes, it's more expensive than Jax, but it doesn't sound like you're worried about buying a house/condo anytime soon...that's a good thing, as friends of mine are facing foreclosure out there! There's just so much to do in San Diego and the weather is wonderful much of the time. Being that it's a big city, I think some people may have had trouble really connecting and making friends there, but I was fortunate to make a lot of friends through church. Jacksonville has things going for it and is a great place to raise a family, but as a young, single guy, I think you'd be happier in San Diego. Just my opinion....
