A primary flood insurance policy including $250k building and $100k contents coverage for an owner occupied home in a non high risk flood zone should be $450. Annually. You can purchase an excess flood policy for increased coverage. Some homeowner carriers are now offering to endorse flood insurance onto their homeowner insurance policy.

Rates on homeowner insurance can vary a lot depending on many factors including protection class (distance to fire station, etc), prior claim experience, home age and wind mitigation features, coverage limits, etc. there are a lot of carriers writing homeowner insurance in the area, some of these carriers are AM Best rated including ASI. Chubb and Pure write high end homes in the area and there are many independent agents representing carriers including ASI, Universal Property, Olympus, Security First, Heritage, Anchor and Frontline.

I see rates as low as $500. With carriers including Security First and Olympus for dwelling coverage under $200k on a small home and depending upon rating factors would guesstimate premiums in the $1,000 to $2,000 for $300,000 of dwelling coverage depending on the carrier and coverage enhancements desired.

You can contact an agent with an address to obtain flood zone and flood and homeowner insurance quotations.

Some of the homes on SR 13 backing up to the St John's River did experience storm damage with lots of dock damage from Hurricane Matthew. Inland including the Durbin, JCP, 210 and WGV areas there was sporadic damage including wind, tree damage and power outages.

We have used Baptist South and been happy. The Mayo Clinic has great reviews but believe they are not in network with a lot of health insurance plans.

We relocated to the area over three years ago from MA and found City Data to be a great resource. There are a lot of Facebook pages providing lots of information and local resources. Best of luck in your research and relocation!

JMMH, Debg1 and others here at Jax CD, thank you for your very informative replies !

City Data has been an invaluable resource to me in my search. What better way to learn about an area than to speak with those who live there...

In regards to health insurance...i will be retiring to SJC this summer. I have GhI and am a NyC employee. Friend of mine told me that if you do a search on the GhI website and see doctors, just because they are on the website doesnt mean they still take GHI. They are suppose to notify GhI in writing if they are not taking it anymore,,,,,how many of them actually do that...

I would call the doctors office itself and see if they still take GHI.

As for development, i am trying to figure out where exactly this Durbin park project will be..i hear CR 210 And ST Johns Parkway, i also hear St Johns Parkway and 9B..which is it? I just hope that these new townhouses dont bring the undesireables in..

I also heard that about the GHI website. Apparently not all doctors listed are still accepting the coverage there. I was kinda of surprised to see how few doctors accept NYC GHI considering how many NY'ers have moved down there.

As far as the Durbin Park Project from what I've read it will be at Race Track and 95.
