Teams are already gearing up for the May 2nd event. Not familiar with the project? Simply, teams create a film from start to finish literally in 48 hours' time. The films are screened locally and judged, and the winning film goes on to compete internationally.

If you don't have a team but want to participate, you can put your name on a list and filmmakers may contact you. If you'd just like to see the films, that's possible, too. (See the link found on the website below.)

My husband is into Videography on the side and participates in festivals when they come to the area. Last year was the first time 48 Hours come to the area, (usually he will go to Orlando for the 48 or 36 hour competitions), and he was very disappointed. It was over-priced for submission, the film makers had to actually pay to get in the screening and awards, and he found that some well off people decided they would hire freelancers to do the entire film for them. What is the point in that?? It is a competition!! Anyway, that all put a sour taste in his mouth and I don't think he will be doing this festival.

apanda - interesting comment from someone who's in the know ... thank you! I just heard about it Wednesday night from a participant in last year's project - last year was her first year and she was in a "background" capacity, so I'll be interested to hear further from her about this year's!

Not to discourage any one from competing, maybe they will be more organized this year. But just for any one that has done these, this one is organized a bit different. Normally, there are different levels of competition as well and last year there were none. They are still fun, but again, not quite organized the way most are.

Poke around the site (see my OP for the link) and check out what it's all about. There's a section "For Filmmakers" that gives all the rules and where to get the packets. There's a meet-n-greet on April 17th at 6:30 at the River City Brewing Co.

I made a movie video once and wow so much work! I can't imagine doing it all in 48 hours!

Hey, I have an idea, you can follow me around for 48 hours, and tell the world just how wonderful I am!

Ok, so it's sounding like C-D/Jax just may form a team ... um, kinda too late for this year, but next year? Now wouldn't that be a blast.
