"Exhausted Jacksonville Teams Submit Films
Filmmaking teams from throughout the Jacksonville area successfully completed a weekend of filmmaking. Films were due on June 7th, and the last few minutes before the deadline saw filmmakers, operating on little sleep and lots of adrenaline, rushing to get their films in on time.

All of the films that were submitted on Sunday night will screen on the dates [on the website] below. Come see what Jacksonville area filmmakers can do!"

The 48 Hour Film Project: Jacksonville

Screening of the Best of Jacksonville 48HFP is next Wednesday night, June 24th, at 7pm, at the Florida Theatre.

Are you going to this? I'd like to go, but I don't want to go by myself.

I'm seriously considering it, especially since my cousin was on one of the teams (but I don't know if her team's film made it to the "best" list). Sounds like a good topic of conversation at the pizza gathering on Friday - I should know by then what my schedule looks like for next week.

Default Update

I went to the screening last night of the top 15 films -- so glad I went and all I can say is Jax has talent. Truly an enjoyable night.

I didn't know what to expect, but I figured it would a torturous night of watching "homemade" short films -- wow, was I wrong.

Comcast was one of the sponsors this year and will be broadcasting the films On Demand at some point in the near future.

Did your cousin's team make it to the best list?
I have a friend who participated, but his film didn't make it into the screening.

No, hers didn't make it either. But the "up" side is that they still own the rights to their film and can re-edit it and send it off to other competitions.

I'm actually interested in getting involved. I'm not a "movie person", but it seems like a really fun thing to do even for someone like me who doesn't move around in that circle. I'm going to attend a meet-n-greet next year to see if there's somewhere I can volunteer -- behind the scenes of course :-)

I guess depending on how involved you are would decide how much sleep you get, but my friend (who was the name on the entry) didn't get much sleep that weekend.
I like my sleep too much to want to participate.
