Hi. Does anyone know if there is a way to research past flood or HO insurance claims on properties listed in St. Augustine? We want to buy an established house in an older neighborhood [like St. Aug South or the Shores] because we don't want to contribute to the blight of new housing in such an environmentally sensitive place. However, we worry about flood damage that we may not readily see. I've tried to use FEMAs website, but I can't seem to find a link that would enable me to at least see if any claims were made for a particular house.

Any help would be so appreciated.

Have a great day!

I'm not so sure that claims are considered public knowledge, so you might be out of luck finding the info in a public place about a specific home. However, you might try contacting St. Augustine City Hall and inquire about locations of previous flooding.

Or contact the library -- librarians know just about everything there is to know or at least how to find info.
