I remember reading various posts in the past making Northside to be a warzone with rampant shootouts; bystanders having to dodge bullets and people being caught in the crossfire. This is what they were probably referring to

LOL ... yeah, I guess I wish that people would be a little more specific when talking about the "Northside" and its crime problems.

Now, there are some Section 8 housing projects and apartment complexes - mostly to the Northwest - where your video might not be THAT far off!!

However, that certainly doesn't apply everywhere. Downtown is quite safe, and is in fact one of the safest zip codes in the entire city. Springfield is more of a mixed bag, but I like it overall. North of Springfield and South of the Trout River is kinda gross. But, then you have the neighborhoods North of the Trout River - and by then it's just like any other suburb. So the Northside certainly isn't all bad.

Historic Springfield is just fine. Rather nice actaully.

When you get outside of the historic section into "New" Springfield is where you see the major issues.

Downtown probably has triple the police force of other parts of Jacksonville so if someone thinks of committing a crime downtown, forget it. Northside most definitely isn't all bad but you know when things go wrong in one area, the entire region gets a negative stigma attached. You have immediate Northside which is strictly inner-city, that's where Moncrief, Myrtle Ave and the numbered streets lie, that's where it goes down.

NorthsideJacksonville,

Actually, if you look on a map, the "immediate Northside" is Springfield, whioch is not Myrtle Ave, Moncrief, etc. And it does have numbered streets. And it is a rather nice area (ha). North, West, & East of Springfield is not so hot...

You're right, my bad on the immediate Northside part. Everything else I said was also valid. In the Northside, the numbered streets are all/mostly located in the hood.
