Here's a link to the FL Statute: Statutes & Constitution :View Statutes :->2008->Ch0790->Section 06 : Online Sunshine

And, specifically:
Quote:
(12) No license issued pursuant to this section shall authorize any person to carry a concealed weapon or firearm into any place of nuisance as defined in s. 823.05; any police, sheriff, or highway patrol station; any detention facility, prison, or jail; any courthouse; any courtroom, except that nothing in this section would preclude a judge from carrying a concealed weapon or determining who will carry a concealed weapon in his or her courtroom; any polling place; any meeting of the governing body of a county, public school district, municipality, or special district; any meeting of the Legislature or a committee thereof; any school, college, or professional athletic event not related to firearms; any school administration building; any portion of an establishment licensed to dispense alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises, which portion of the establishment is primarily devoted to such purpose; any elementary or secondary school facility; any career center; any college or university facility unless the licensee is a registered student, employee, or faculty member of such college or university and the weapon is a stun gun or nonlethal electric weapon or device designed solely for defensive purposes and the weapon does not fire a dart or projectile; inside the passenger terminal and sterile area of any airport, provided that no person shall be prohibited from carrying any legal firearm into the terminal, which firearm is encased for shipment for purposes of checking such firearm as baggage to be lawfully transported on any aircraft; or any place where the carrying of firearms is prohibited by federal law. Any person who willfully violates any provision of this subsection commits a misdemeanor of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.
It doesn't say "library", but I was looking for something referencing a "public building" or something like that. Doesn't say that. I think you're OK. Check for a sign on the front door, though, prior to entering.

Just found this on the Jacksonville Public Library website: Library Code of Conduct - Jacksonville Public Library

See #12
Quote:
The following actions and forms of conduct are not permitted:
  1. Sleeping.
  2. Abusive language or harassment of library staff or customers.
  3. Mutilation or destruction of library buildings, materials, or equipment.
  4. Solicitation of any kind for any purpose.
  5. Bringing animals and pets into the library, with the exception of service animals.
  6. Loitering on library property (prohibited by Section 614.106, Jacksonville Municipal Code).
  7. Any unlawful, disruptive or potentially harmful activity on library property. (Illegal or disturbing behavior will be subject to immediate, appropriate, and necessary action.)
  8. Blocking or interfering with the movement of individuals or bringing in items that take up an excessive amount of space, present a potential danger, or have no usefulness in the library.
  9. Sexual activity of any kind, sexual harassment, or indecent exposure.
  10. Consumption or possession of alcohol or illegal drugs or being under the influence. See Policies and Procedures for Use of the Main Library Conference Center and Meeting Rooms for exceptions regarding alcohol consumption.
  11. Monopolizing library equipment, materials, or facilities preventing others from using them.
  12. Carrying illegal weapons of any type.
  13. Loud talking and other noise-producing activities that disturb other customers. Limit use of cell phones. Cell phones should be placed on silent or vibrate mode.
  14. Intentionally damaging, destroying, or stealing any customer's or employee's property.
Now, if you legally own the weapon and are legally licensed to carry it, is it still considered an "illegal weapon"? You might want to call the Library, just to make sure.

It's because you never know when the person next to you might start reading out loud.
