Affordable can be subjective.

Would be nice to see something that would attract and cause rejuvenation of Regency Square. What a current waste of real estate. and it would give some other option than always trekking to St. John's Town Centre. Downtown location would be nice also; perhaps the Mayor can work that into his bigger downtown revitalization plan.

It's a new world for retail........hit and run. Most of the closings are stores that are more than 20 years old......today's retail location is tomorrow's graveyard. Just look at Regency Square Mall, Saint Johns Town Center and to some extent River City Market Place have led to it's decline. Macy's is equally opening new stores also in most likely up and coming retail areas.

As many articles have said.....empty stores with upwards of 160K square feet cast aside by KMart, Walmart, Sears and the rest are extremely hard to find suitable uses for. It was a blessing that Walmart has converted some of the old Food Lion stores over to Neighborhood grocery stores.....if not more than like they would still be empty.

The article doesn't say anything about a Macys expanding into Jax though. They will be expanding in downtown Miami along with a new Bloomingdales once the Miami World Center is constructed. I find it odd that Jax doesn't have a Macys though.

They are closing stores though, I don't think Jacksonville needs a Macys. A store is a store to me, but some people do like more shopping options.
