Yes. I did this for CVS. Many places want you to fill out an application before an interview.

if it's a professional job and they're requiring an application it's a scam, if anyone wants your social security number, names and numbers of your references, names and numbers of previous managers, all before ever even interviewing you, they're just looking for leads to sell their products, I've seen this many times, they're trying to get what they can for free, free leads, there's tons of applicant's and therefore a machine of new fresh leads of professional contacts, everything they need to know to interview you is on your resume, where you worked, what you did, etc, etc . . .then they interview you and if they want to proceed they ask for more information, but what happens after you interview and they don't offer you the job, some random people now know everything there is to know about you, if you don't believe me then give away all this information to 10 different jobs and then check with your references and see if you're still allowed to use their names because they will be hating you

I've never not filled out an application first. That is the first step in the process.

Old thread but I have NEVER not filled out an application FIRST.

I have even did the pre-employment knowledge testing before any interviews, they wanted me but I decided to take another job closer to home.

Since the thread was bumped, yes, I have filled out application before an interview in the past.

And no I didn't land the jobs.

Like some of the posters in this thread.

Don't want to or have time to fill out my application? I don't have a job for you.
It really isn't complicated for some of us.

You really want to be circumspect about putting down references early in the process. Some recruiters will use those as leads, and pester them until your references refuse to help anymore.

Hold tight to that dry powder.

You stop to think maybe this is a contributing factor in your problem finding employment?
