Depending on your job, they're not mutually exclusive. Often in business, government, and academia (the fields I've worked in), being able to mentally and verbally navigate tricky or awkward positions and questions adeptly are critical to success.
Q: Based on what you've heard so far, what do you like the least about this position?
A: It sounds like an excellent opportunity that's a great fit for my skills and personality. The one thing that I don't like is the salary range. It's a bit lower than I would expect for this level of experience and responsibility.
Q: Uh... maybe we can discuss that, if it comes to an offer.
So I answered that this position (accountant) had a busy time with some OT January-March. I said I think the person in this position has to keep that in mind when starting the position in September and needs to be well organized. I made a point saying that is not a deterrant at all to me not taking the job or making me nervous.
Simple answer:
"I least thing about this position would be not getting it."
Then wait to see their reaction. If they smile leave it at that. If they remain straight faced or frown, you know the thing you like least, be honest about it and follow up with what steps you'd take to make it better.
The reason for the question is to week out those that can think from those that can't. It is also used to weed out liars.
The question is valid and if you think most people lie about the answer, that is why most people don't get that job, only one does and they probably didn't resort to lying about it.
