Depending on your job, they're not mutually exclusive. Often in business, government, and academia (the fields I've worked in), being able to mentally and verbally navigate tricky or awkward positions and questions adeptly are critical to success.

Here's a new one. My SO just came back from an interview where he was asked to name 10 things, besides writing, to do with a ballpoint pen.

That is a very Google-esque / start-up type question. I'm nut surprised those types of questions are expanding.

Sprint sales rep. I assume it was to judge creativity and on the fly thinking.

Q: Based on what you've heard so far, what do you like the least about this position?

A: It sounds like an excellent opportunity that's a great fit for my skills and personality. The one thing that I don't like is the salary range. It's a bit lower than I would expect for this level of experience and responsibility.

Q: Uh... maybe we can discuss that, if it comes to an offer.

A: I'd be thrilled if we get to that point.

I made a point saying that is not a deterrant at all to me not taking the job or making me nervous.
Simple answer:

"I least thing about this position would be not getting it."

Then wait to see their reaction. If they smile leave it at that. If they remain straight faced or frown, you know the thing you like least, be honest about it and follow up with what steps you'd take to make it better.

The reason for the question is to week out those that can think from those that can't. It is also used to weed out liars.

The question is valid and if you think most people lie about the answer, that is why most people don't get that job, only one does and they probably didn't resort to lying about it.

It really isn't that difficult.

Well I've actually answered that question that there was nothing I disliked, and I was not lying.
