I'm not getting any bites as I apply at numerous companies and the thought has crossed my mind that it's because of the wages I was making at the job I don't have any longer. Many sites require a numeric value for last wage earned and I've been thinking about dropping to something that might make me more attractive. I hate to think that they see what I was making and make a decision to move on to other candidates based on that but I'm starting to think it's a real possibility that's happening. Any opinions folks? TIA

I would not lie. They can easily call the employer and ask.

nope. in most places former employers are only allowed to verify how long someone worked at a location. anything mor than that leaves them open to lawsuits.

Dates of employment, title and salary are all commonly confirmed.

What makes you think salary is the issue? Was your former employer paying well above what the market in your area pays? Or is this a suspicion and you're really not sure?
