This job requires certification for a position and I have certification for it. I received the certification two weeks ago. However, to ensure it will be active have to be fingerprinted and pay the fees for the license, which I didn't do yet. Should I apply or wait? Appreciate the feedback.
How long of a delay are we talking about here? If it is only going to take a day or two it might be advisable to wait until you can honestly say that you have the certification and it is a done deal. I wouldn't wait more than a day or two, though, or you risk the hiring team already having front-runners picked out by the time they even see your application.
I'm assuming if you have the cert, you are certified (unless the certification authority specifically denotes otherwise). Perhaps you can mention that in your resume - attained certification, not fingerprinted - or something to that effect.
I know there are a few IT certs where they randomly audit your professional experience (part of the certification qualifications). And I have seen folks note that in their resume (undergoing professional audit).
I would get that last few steps completed as soon as feasible though. Since nothing is guaranteed, not having that last step can still cost you an offer if another candidate is equally qualified, but with all the steps complete.
Just haven't been fingerprinted yet cost $200 so trying to save up for it.
If you get the job, would you have the $200 for fingerprinting before you start? If the answer is "no", then you won't really be fully certified when you begin.
True kind of hoping the employer would cover the cost. Money is such a challenge. Not sure if even worth the job only $12 an hour and a 35 mile drive away, ha.

As opposed to what? $8/hr and local?
Let's assume 35 miles takes you two gallons of gas. You'll spend a total of $10 in gas per day.
8 hour day, making $32 more daily... Minus the gas, that's still $22 extra/day.
It CAN be worth it, depending on what your options are.
As for others assuming that passing the certification means you're licensed, that's not always true.
Nurses, for example, can pass their RN exams, get their Associate's degrees, and STILL not be licensed. At least here, in FL, they have to take a board exam to become licensed, despite being, technically, certified by the school they attended.
I'm not sure I understand what is going on here. Certification in what? Fingerprint for what? $200 for what?
Example:
in 2008, my wife got her Associate's in Nursing, otherwise known as the RN certificate.
She needed to be licensed by the state in order to work.
In order to be licensed, she had to take a board exam. This was costly.
She also had to be fingerprinted, at her own cost as well.
This is actually pretty common...
