Hi everyone,

My husband is working for a pharma company (scientist).

I am applying to the same place as a scientist as well. So far I got 3 phone and 1 on site interviews, all went well. My question is should I ever mention about my husband? So far I haven't mentioned about him at all.

All the available positions were posted on their career website, I applied through that.

Would it be beneficial to talk about him, or it would just diminish my chances to get the job?

PS. We will be working for different teams/groups within the company.

Thanks!

You should most definitely disclose that he works there. Telling them won't hurt your chances, but withholding the information might.

I would ask my husband if he knew the workplace policy (or could find out) and go from there.

It depends. If your husband happens to be a major d@uche who is a bad employee, then things may go against you.

If they do not know who he is, then I would definitely tell them.

HR or hiring people didn't ask any question regarding to my marital status or husband's job, basically i was not asked anything personal.

They have married couples in their location, he knows at least 3 couples. Workplace welcomes this.

Thanks for the replies!

Back in the late 1970s, at the place I worked as a young supervisor my direct reports included a young woman about 21, her mother, and her grandmother.

All were married so had different last names but everyone knew, and they were 3 of my best workers.
