I have an 8:00 to 5:00 job Monday through Friday. I used to work retail and later at a restaurant on the weekend and some evenings.

I rather not go the retail and restaurant route, but if push comes to shove, I'll do it again. Does any one have any suggestions for people looking for extra money?

I'm also passively looking for a better day job than the one where I got a promotion; just going to gain the experience for my resume.

Thanks!

how much money are you trying to get out of it?

most "second" jobs tend to not pay as much as the primary job, unless you are doing the same type of work otherwise they would make it their main job

could you work overtime or do the job as a side business/contract for someone?

if it is to get out of the house, and make "some" money, casinos are pretty good for it, they hire people for coat checks to valets to wait staff/cooks/hosts to security and money laundering (I mean cashiers)

or be a peanut/beer vendor at sports events?

About a couple hundred per paycheck.

I net around $15/hr (including tips) doing coat check before at a casino. Not sure about the hundred bucks/paycheck, I only worked 4 hours a week doing it in college

now I make in hours/days what it would take a month (at a lower paying job) just working overtime or prn somewhere. PRN rate is same as overtime rate

just depends on how many hours you put into it? or the hourly rate at least

I worked weekend night security at a retirement community for a year. It was a very quiet and uneventful job.

Aw I don't have any casinos in my city really, I just looked them up.

I'm thinking 15 hours a week.

I used to have a PRN job, I got a lot of homework done, but it's probably less safe in the city I'm in now.

It's sort of retail, but our gas station convenience stores always seem to be hiring, and most are open 24/7. Also, check with your local school district. They are almost always hiring "substitute custodians." You get a call and can take the work or not, depending on when and where the person has called in sick, with most being evenings. Ours is paying about $16/hour and training is paid.

Try local hotels, the ones around here always seem to be hiring for part-time/evening hour type positions
