Job seekers with no ties to any particular location often seek jobs in big cities like New York, Chicago, Illinois, Los Angeles, California, or San Francisco, California.

But are these the places where they're most likely to find a job?

I think people like to come to the big cities because they think they can make more money in those cities which is probably true. But everything here costs 2x as much as it would in the midwest. Not to mention the 8% unemployment rates.

Yeah, but who wants to live in Iowa? No offense to anyone, but there has to be more to your life than your job and income..

Its like living in Buffalo, NY (where I live)..

Nobody wants to do it.

Exactly but what is the point of living in a big city when you can't find a good paying job? Forget it.

I'd rather live in the sticks with a good paying job and low cost of living. You can save up more money, go on better vacations and retire sooner. I'll take that any day.

In fact, that is what I am planning on doing. The hell with living in Orange County, Ca. Unless you are making 100k+ it isn't worth it.

First I wonder what kind of jobs are available in those cities. I think Iowa would be a very nice place to live, except for the winters. I don't think I could take the winters in most of those places on that list. Hell, I couldn't take Pittsburgh winters!

Ha! Go Bismarck!!! woot woot!
PS: winters blow. it was 13 degrees today (not including wind chill, and the wind was cold)
PSS: the snow makes the roads slippery and you have to drive like... not even 40 on the interstate/freeway hah.

well i'm going to go driving, la la la

Uh, I would rather work in a major city instead of working in a small boring town. Bismarck is too cold and boring!

that's interesting. most of the places listed are located in the mid-west. i would think places to find jobs would be in highly populated cities (not necessarily los angeles or new york city).
