The Granada had all their air conditioning apparatus in a "basement" room below the screen that apparently had no stair access but did have a ladder access. I am wondering if that room is still down there covered by the asphalt.

What about the buildings to its east?

I guess that explains why the 300 block of WL ends with a 320, either Luff's Restaurant or Pat's Lunch.

MRG,

Take a look at Google Maps in the 300 block of west Lexington at Lexington and Spring.

Look directly underneath the Shoco sign on the north side of Lexington and there is a standard entry door with two oblong windows to either side. That outline there looks to me like it could have been a small business establishment at one time.

I am wondering if that might not have been the eatery at 320 west. Maybe it was sandwiched (no pun intended) into the back of Galen Boyer?

Yeah, that's what it looks like Go thru the front door, then sit on one side near a window eat lunch and people watch.

BTW earlier (forgot what year) but there was also "sandwiched" a title company between 320 and 310 BVFSL. So that might have been the back of the other building we are associating with GB as well. The counterpart of 313-315 W Maple.

Here is something that I was not aware concerning the initial location of the Truman Library.

The quote is from A President, a Church, and Trails West by Jon E. Taylor, page 95.

Weatherford is Robert P. Weatherford, mayor of Independence in the fifties.

“Initially, Truman wanted the library constructed on the RLDS Campus where the church had a ball diamond. The church refused to relinquish the land unless Weatherford approached the Mormon Church in Salt Lake City to see if they were willing to allow the RLDS church to acquire an LDS-owned parcel of property north of the ball diamond. Weatherford recalled: “When I approached them [the Mormon Church] I hit a stone wall there. They are all fine people, loyal citizens, but there is a little interchurch conflict of interest that surfaced very quickly and I backed off.”

I'm going to attach my picture of 222 West Maple. It's the green building that says "Law Office". I actually stop in there 1-2x a week, as I have a friend that is a receptionist there. Didn't know the place used to be a painting store!! Perhaps I should ask her about ghosts?

Located next to the old Electric Theater.

Hey, this business is still there--sort of, chuckle.

Does anyone know where there might have been a store #2?

There was one Downtown, immediately adjacent (south) of Macy's

Those are the only two I know of
