Keep trying, even I can't stretch an appliance store into a transportation related use!

My Polk's access online ended with 1960 and maybe I was able to determine if GB also moved its new car showroom to that area, but my memory recalls the dealership located on Lexington. Can still remember the pleasant scent of walking into the showroom, especially on a nice hot summer day, when AC wasn't universal. Late 50s to early 60s would be my guess of relocation. Maybe MAD, now our Resident Polk's Expert, would be kind enough to see if I'm correct and what year GB New Cars shows up on Lexington.
I'll check on this tomorrow.

The 1957 Polk's shows only used cars at 907 W Lexington, with new cars at 313-317 W Maple.
The 1958 directory is not available.
The 1959 version has new and used cars on Lexington.

Dave Cross is listed as the manager of the dealership. Later he would have his own dealership in Lee's Summit.

According to the 1959 listing Galen Boyer sold Pontiac, Cadillac, and GMC trucks. In 1960 he added a foreign product line. What was it?

Honda?

In the 1959 version, what cars was Dave Cross selling at the Lexington Address?

The Kansas City Times of October 25, 1960, has Galen Boyer only at 907 w Lexington.

It may be that Galen Boyer moved lock stock and barrel from west Maple to west Lexington and then not long after moved to the Miracle Mile out on Noland Road.

MRG, looks like you recalled correctly.

It was not Honda.

Dave was the manager for Galen Boyer's dealership.

That agrees with the Polk's for 1960.

Thanks, MAD . . . I knew both the showroom and service areas were there and it had to be in that time frame. Funny how I don't have any recollection of the W Maple location, given the years there. Selective memory.

Those south side blocks were quite busy back then. Paved Paradise and put up parking lots.

I hereby declare you stumped! Boats and bicycles were sold here, beginning in 1960. The establishment was Ketchum's Marine and Bicycle Shop. Prior to 1960 the shop was located at 827 W Lexington.
