Did anybody see this?

I don't have a strong opinion about this mostly negative blog, this is my new home and I naturally want to hear good things. However, it's in line with a lot that I've read in this forum.

Thoughts?

Yael goes out of his way to find stats to pick on KCMO city govt and you just perpetuated it. You could find many stats where KC is above average in other areas too.

Is he seriously suggesting this is a bad thing?

Quote:
City employees per 1,000 residents (lowest to highest)
Omaha, Oklahoma City, Fort Worth, Tulsa, Memphis, Minneapolis, Kansas City, Denver, St. Louis
Kansas City’s large number of police and firefighters when compared with its peers drives down this ranking. Even after several years of cutbacks, it appears Kansas City still has a high number of public workers.
FIREFIGHTERS ARE BAD!

Yael is a moron. Ignore anything he writes.

That's my opinion of him.

I can be plenty hard in KC but I feel I can back up what I say. He just takes broad facts and compares them leaving out all the variables in any way possible to make kcmo look like crap. He LOVES to compare kcmo to joco statistically and doing that makes zero sense because there are just too many variables to compare raw stats of two very different places.

Now there are things I think KC should improve when comparing it to peer cities, but Yael does a terrible job of annalizing such needed improvements and won't ever give kcmo credit for things it does do right or what the city is up agaist compared to its peer cities (cough..kansas...cough).

Ya know, even with your smiley face, your comment comes off as pissy. I've been reading this forum for quite a while, it's basically dead, so why not discuss something in a discussion forum? I've seen 1/2 dozen people come/go cuse they try to discuss and the regulars jump all over em.

One of the reasons KC may have a larger number of police and firefighters per capita is because of the large geographic area the city itself covers. Of those listed cities, only Oklahoma City comes close in geographic size.

No, not at all pissy. Yael's purpose of existence is to rile up readers to sell papers. He's not well liked in town. He loves to bash the city govt but rarely supports positive actions that are taken. I was referring to you unknowingly perpetuating his media vvhore blog, not accusing you of supporting him.
